The town of Ermioni is located just before the settlement of Kranidi, at the southeastern tip of Argolida, and is about 84 km from Nafplio, while opposite it, are the islands of Dokos and Kappari.

Built amphitheatrically, Ermioni is embraced by the sea and ends at the pine-covered Bisti Peninsula. It owes its name to the mythical hero Hermione, who founded the ancient city of Hermione. The city seems to have been fortified at that time, which is why in the Middle Ages it was renamed Kastri.

For 5,000 years, Hermione has been inhabited continuously. In classical times, the city stood out for its purple, the famous shell of its shores, which produced an indelible red color and was what painted the costumes of many ancient kings. But it was also the capital of the Revolutionary Government. Today, the Historical Folklore Museum of Ermioni is housed in the same Ermioni house that the Third National Assembly of 1827 met.

To the north of Ermioni stands the port, its predominantly commercial center, and to the south, Mandrakia, an area which is famous for its nightlife. Inside the city it is worth seeing the important finds that are preserved in the courtyard of the City Hall, as well as the Metropolitan Church of the Brigadiers. Do not forget to climb the hill of the city and gaze from there at the island church of Agia Ermioni, but also at the plain with the famous pomegranates that can be seen on the horizon.

Ermioni is an ideal base for excursions, since about 5 km away, is the gorge Katafiki, with the old historic bridge ending in the picturesque village of Fourni.

In addition to its turquoise waters and green slopes, in Ermioni, the visitor can take part in glorious celebrations that take place throughout the year, testifying to its prosperous past.
