After 13 years Greece opens the curtain of the most epic and exciting sport in the world.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series returns to Athens, the first location that ever became a final of this world championship, in 2009. The picturesque Vouliagmeni Lake, in fact, becomes the first of the eight stops on the world tour of this event.
This global event will take place from the 24th to the 26th of May, giving the public the chance to enjoy lots of sensational diving action from a platform – 27 meters high for the men and 21 meters for the women… and more.
But what is the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series?
Cliff diving is a top extreme sport that requires absolute concentration and incredible skills – it’s about strength as well as balance. Athletes are required to perfectly coordinate all the muscles of their body but at the same time have the absolute mental discipline and concentration to perform a perfect dive.
In the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series everything counts, it is not by chance considered one of the most impressive but also difficult competitions. Height, speed, g-forces, as well as spatial awareness, timing and physical strength play a huge role.
Within fractions of a second, gravity pulls the athlete’s body from a height similar to that of an 8-story building, exceeding a speed of 85 km per hour. Without any protection, the athletes plunge into the void performing dives that are enriched with exciting figures and rely on their professionalism and experience, while their bodies are transformed into F1 cars.
